MICHAEL
JACKSON GETS AQUITTED ON ALL TEN COUNTS
AND FOX NEWS
SHOWS ITS TRUE COLOURS
Fox News is
a political mouthpiece for The Whitehouse - but that's
not all. America's most popular cable network spouts
out a dangerously extreme right-wing agenda to a largely
ignorant audience (ignorant only because they are fed
such atrociously bad media). Fox News
add insult to injury with their tagline "fair and
balanced". They pushed heavily to get George W.
Bush back in power. They hire people who are pro right
wing. Crazy people like Bill O'Reilly who is the ultimate
"bully" when it comes to his point of view.
So it came as no surprise to me to see their reaction
to the aquittal of Michael Jackson. You see, Michael
Jackson is a bad guy. He's not a bible-basher. He represents
"the unclean" in their version of
society. Just like Fox news hates gay people, or anyone
who pushes the borders on "all-things-decent".
They have been bullying and bashing Michael Jackson
since this whole drama started in his life.
I
watched some of the most blissfully satisfying television
at 5.30am local time, as the ten counts all turned up
"not guilty". As most geeks do, I was frantically
switching between Fox, Sky (UK), CNN, and BBC as the
results unfolded.
But what about those guys at Fox? Talk about an audio-visual
"squirm" of titanic proportions! The reporters
were gobsmacked. The anchors shimmered angrily in their
chairs. Then we were treated to about an hour of dialogue
between reporters on how Jackson "avoided"
being charged. Having watched as they gloated over the
re-installation of Bush, it was quite momentus to see
them squirm and bicker over what they saw as a gross
injustice. At last, great television coming from the
Murdoch network. Fox will tell you they report the news,
when in fact they would prefer to create the news THEY
want you to see/hear. They didn't get away with
it this time.
